Goal and benefit

The main goals of nervous system mobilization are to improve nerve function and relieve symptoms caused by nerve compression or irritation. Indications

Nervous system mobilization may be indicated for a variety of neurological and orthopedic problems, including:

  • Herniated discs and sciatica
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome and tunnel syndromes in other areas of the body
  • Postoperative nerve irritation
  • Neuropathic pain
  • Nerve injuries or nerve compression syndromes
  • Muscle weakness due to nerve problems
  • Restrictions on movement due to nerve problems

Your physical therapist will perform a comprehensive examination to determine the cause of your discomfort and then perform customized nervous system mobilization to treat your specific problems and optimize nerve function.

Treatment process

Mobilization of the nervous system is carried out by a qualified physiotherapist. Techniques vary depending on the patient’s needs and the areas affected. Common methods include:

  • Gentle stretching of the nerve tissue through special grips and movements
  • Mobilization of the spine to relieve congestion and compression
  • Exercises to improve neurodynamic flexibility
  • Breathing and relaxation techniques to reduce stress and muscle tension

Please note that the costs of physiotherapy prescribed by a doctor are usually covered by your health or accident insurance. If you come to us without a doctor’s referral, self-pay prices are CHF 85 for a 30-minute treatment.
