Ultrasound

Ultrasound therapy is a physiotherapeutic treatment method in which high-frequency sound waves are introduced into the body’s tissues. These sound waves create mechanical vibrations in the cells that produce a variety of positive physiological effects, particularly related to pain relief and tissue regeneration.

Goal and benefit

The main goals of ultrasound therapy are to relieve pain, promote healing of soft tissue injuries, and improve tissue elasticity. The benefits include:

  • Loosening of scar tissue after injury or surgery
  • Relief from pain caused by muscular tension or inflammation
  • Promotes blood circulation and oxygen supply in the tissue
  • Supports the regeneration of tendons, ligaments and muscles
  • Reducing inflammation and swelling
  • Loosening of scar tissue after injury or surgery

Indications

Ultrasound therapy may be indicated in various situations including:

  • Muscular tension or injuries
  • Inflammation of the tendons (tendinitis)
  • Arthritis pain relief
  • Reducing swelling after injury or surgery
  • Loosening of scar tissue
  • Promotes the healing of soft tissue injuries such as ligament strains or torn muscle fibers

Ultrasound therapy should be performed by a qualified physical therapist who will determine the correct technique and settings for the specific treatment. The method can be used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan depending on individual needs and the type of injury.

Treatment process

Ultrasound therapy is carried out using an ultrasound machine. A special gel is applied to the area of skin to be treated to guide the sound waves. The therapist moves the ultrasound probe over the affected area, causing the sound waves to penetrate the tissue. During treatment, the patient may feel a slight tingling or warm sensation.
